Pain in reading and tips on how to deal with it.

Hi, I'm a twenty-something student whose life has been turned upside down by a chronic headache problem. I wanted to know if you also experience a lot of pain when reading books (I practically can't read a book normally) and how you've dealt with it in life.

  1. Hi. Sorry you're trying to figure out migraine during such a busy time. It's always hard. You aren't alone in going through this, though. Migraine is pretty common, and it's safe to say that there are others on campus that also have migraine, or another health issue that makes it hard to study.

If you are in the US, this article offers a good plan for getting accommodations from your school:

Generally, try to see if your school has an office for people with disabilities. They will be able to guide you. For now, can you look into getting your textbooks as audiobooks? Do you have a doctor who is treating your migraines? If not, it's best to find one as soon as you can. There are directories of board-certified headache and migraine doctors at headaches.org and americanmigrainefoundation.org for US patients.
