Car accidents

Has anyone else dealt with a car accident, particularly if you got whiplash as a result, and found your migraines have become worse?

Right now they seem almost constant. One ends and another starts. Everything triggers me. Physical therapy is triggering. And normal triggers are getting me much more easily.

  1. And I'm also finding more severe symptoms and new symptoms. Like recent migraines have been in the back of my neck as well as temple/eye area.

    1. Oh dear, , I can hear how much pain you've been experiencing lately. A car accident certainly could trigger migraine, especially if there was a head injury. One of our members wrote about migraine being triggered by concussion from a car accident here, https://migraine.com/stories/never-had-until-concussion. (One of the members who comments on the post also indicated a car accident triggering migraine for her.) As you mention physical therapy, I imagine that you've already seen your doctor for these new migraine symptoms? If not, I would encourage you to reach out to them. It might even be worth mentioning asking about the impact the car accident could have on your migraine as well (if you haven't already), or even about the possibility of a concussion. Is the physical therapy you mention specifically for migraine? -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
