I get chronic common migraines, but about once a year I also get a migraine with an aura. I usually take my migraine and nausea medications at the first sign of the aura and then go straight to bed and wait for the severe pain and vomiting.
The last 3 times I've had the aura, I have done the same routine as well as added a few new new things: I drink a little more water so I don't get dehydrated and eat a few crackers so the meds don't upset my stomach worse. I put on some acupressure wrist bands for nausea. I do some acupressure for migraines and nausea. And I do deep breathing as well as visualizing everything in my head going back to normal.
So far, the results have been that I have bypassed the worst of the headaches and the vomiting. I still have 2-3 days of the after-effects, but I'm happy with that if I can bypass the worst of it.
I hope this helps some of you.
